What the source reads — the two earliest complete Greek Bibles (Sinaiticus, Vaticanus) end at 16:8 — 'for they were afraid.'
What this version reads — the 'longer ending' — the resurrection appearances, the Great Commission, snake-handling and poison (16:9-20).
The last twelve verses of Mark are missing from the oldest manuscripts and were noted as doubtful by early writers. The KJV prints them as scripture. Authorship is disputed; the manuscript fact is not.
