Mark 16:9-20 — What Changed in the Bible Text

Edit · documented

What the source readsthe two earliest complete Greek Bibles (Sinaiticus, Vaticanus) end at 16:8 — 'for they were afraid.'

What this version readsthe 'longer ending' — the resurrection appearances, the Great Commission, snake-handling and poison (16:9-20).

The last twelve verses of Mark are missing from the oldest manuscripts and were noted as doubtful by early writers. The KJV prints them as scripture. Authorship is disputed; the manuscript fact is not.
