1 Timothy 3:16 — What Changed in the Bible Text

What the source readsHe who was revealed in the flesh

What this version readsGod was manifest in the flesh

The oldest manuscripts read ὅς ('who'); the Textus Receptus reads θεός ('God'). In the old nomina-sacra script the two are one stroke apart — ΟΣ against ΘΣ. A single added line turns a relative pronoun into a proof-text for the deity of Christ.
